April C. Perreras graduated from Southville International School & Colleges with the pioneer BSN Class of 2007, having completed her first course in BS Biology. She began her professional journey as an Emergency Room nurse and after 3 years transitioned to teaching as a faculty alumna at the College of Nursing.
After starting a family, April chose to focus on being a stay-at-home mom and entrepreneur, raising her two daughters while rekindling her passion for health and fitness. However, in 2022, she faced an unexpected challenge: at the age of 39, she was diagnosed with stage 2 invasive lobular carcinoma.
Undeterred, despite undergoing several invasive procedures, a bilateral mastectomy, and 22 rounds of radiation therapy, her resilience and commitment to fitness helped her through this ordeal. Inspired by her journey, she furthered her expertise by becoming a certified Cancer Exercise Specialist through the globally recognized Cancer Exercise Training Institute (CETI). As one of the first Cancer Exercise Specialists in the country, she founded “Move Beyond Cancer,” a platform dedicated to promoting exercise, early detection, offering coaching services, and advocating for cancer survivors. Through her social media presence and collaborations with various organizations, she continues to share her story, aiming to be a beacon of hope and support for women, especially mothers, who are navigating similar battles.
